Welcome to this week's Waiting on Wednesday. Waiting on Wednesday is a meme hosted by Breaking the Spine where we showcase upcoming releases we are looking forward to.
Hey, everybody! We took a break from Waiting on Wednesday last week to bring you a hilarious post from her majesty, Kat Kennedy. Steph let her out of the castle long enough for her to come over here and talk about attending BEA 2014. Now that that's done, we are back to Waiting on Wednesday again. And boy, do I have a doozy for you this week! Honestly, I am sure you've seen this elsewhere, but this cover is so gorgeous that I just had to have it on my blog. And it's an upcoming book by one of my FAVORITE authors. I have waited THREE LONG YEARS for her next release.
Title: Lost Lake
Author: Sarah Addison Allen
Release Date: February 11th, 2014
Genre: Adult-Magical Realism
Description from Goodreads: From the New York Times bestselling author of Garden Spells comes a novel about heartbroken people finding hope at a magical place in Georgia called Lost Lake.
Suley, Georgia, is home to Lost Lake Cottages and not much else. Which is why it's the perfect place for newly-widowed Kate and her eccentric eight-year-old daughter Devin to heal. Kate spent one memorable childhood summer at Lost Lake, had her first almost-kiss at Lost Lake, and met a boy named Wes at Lost Lake. It was a place for dreaming. But Kate doesn't believe in dreams anymore, and her Aunt Eby, Lost Lake's owner, wants to sell the place and move on. Lost Lake's magic is gone. As Kate discovers that time has a way of standing still at Lost Lake can she bring the cottages—and her heart—back to life? Because sometimes the things you love have a funny way of turning up again. And sometimes you never even know they were lost . . . until they are found.
Usually I have something witty, but I am exhausted from a long work week, a weekend of unpacking, and a sore throat, so my selection this week, a Young Adult book about freaking HARPIES, will just have an short intro and an awesome picture from an awesome man.
Author: Justina Ireland
Release Date: March 11th, 2014
Genre: Young Adult - Fantasy/Mythology
Description from Goodreads: Zephyr Mourning has never been very good at being a Harpy. She’d rather watch reality TV than learn forty-seven ways to kill a man, and she pretty much sucks at wielding magic. Zephyr was ready for a future pretending to be a normal human instead of a half-god assassin. But all that changes when her sister is murdered—and she uses a forbidden dark power to save herself from the same fate.
Zephyr is on the run from a punishment worse than death when an unexpected reunion with a childhood friend (a surprisingly HOT friend) changes everything. Because it seems like Zephyr might just be the Nyx, a dark goddess made flesh that is prophesied to change the power balance. For hundreds of years the half-gods have lived in fear, and Zephyr is supposed to change that.
But how is she supposed to save everyone when she can’t even save herself?
