Welcome to Stacking the Shelves. Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga atTynga's Reviews. This is where we showcase books we have received or bought during the week.
Eep! I fell behind on my blogging duties, and therefore, our end of week post is a day late. As Kara mentioned last week, we are combining our hauls and sharing links and other goodies on the weekend. I'll post up my combined haul for the last two weeks, round up what happened on Great Imaginations for the last part of May, and share some links and other related materials.
First - the book haul!
I have a GREAT selection of books this week, and some nerd-flavored goodies from others. Since I am packing up collectibles this week, I decided to stick Zero Suit Samus in for a bookend. I'm sure she doesn't mind. Much.
First, I'll focus on the books. The lovely used book store slashed their prices for Memorial Day, and I have some wonderful books from that haul. Starters by Lissa Price, Stormdancer by Jay Kirtoff (I was sad to find that I did not own an original copy of the book), The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey, and The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa were all on the new release shelf at Half Price Books. It was a little haul, but it was filled with high quality books!
Since I loved The Humming Room, a few people mentioned The Kneebone Boy by Ellen Potter. Amazon had it for CHEAP when I researched the book, and, thanks to my wonderful Amazon Prime membership, I bought the book less than half price. This book looks GREAT!
I had a friend go out of the country to Europe this week, and she returned with the Japanese guide to Super Metroid. Metroid is in the top 5 of my favorite video games, and I love the images in the book.
Now if I only could read Japanese...
Last, this was an early birthday gift from some people I love. It is a Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers pop up book - way way cute, and perfect for a collector! Yeah, I'm a huge nerd. And I love it.
Red Ranger grabbing the crotch of the Yellow Ranger....my crack pairing come true!
I also have to great ARCs from NetGalley this week!
NetGalley was kind enough to approve Mortality by Kellie Sheridan and Gated by Amy Christine Parker this week. I am very excited over Gated!
On the Blog:
On Monday, Kara reviewed her first graphic novel, Nothing Can Possibly Go Wrong by Prudence Shen and Faith Erin Hicks. She gave it 4 stars.
On Tuesday, we had a double post! First, Kara posted a cover reveal for Steel Lily by Megan Curd. Check out the author's website! Second, Lyn shared her top ten middle grade books for this week's TTT: The Freebie Edition.
On Wednesday, Kara shared the two YA novels that she is looking forward to for this week's Waiting on Wednesday!
On Thursday, Lyn admitting that she was behind on her reading, and instead, shared some beautiful book-inspired fan art.
Finally, on Friday, Kara reviewed Below by Meg McKinlay and awarded the book 4 stars.
Links We Love:
This is where we will share links we love that we have seen around the internet this week.
Reddit sadly shared a story about a book store closing down and 5,000 books now need homes. If you pay for the shipping and handling, the company will send you a box of books. I paid for a bundle, and I hope that some of our readers can lend a helping hand as well.
V-stock, a wonderful company that sells, buys, and collects vintage movies, games, toys and comics, is looking to renovate old Borders stores into Vintage Stock Stores. I LOVE this chain. Please check them out if you have never heard of this chain!
I love that Lexxie at (un)Conventional Book Views shared which bloggers she would LOVE to meet! There are so many bloggers that I hope I get to greet in person one day!
Last, but not least, Find Bliss in Books is still looking for a co-blogger! If you are looking to work with a crazy and exciting book blogger, I am sad to say that I am already taken. But Blythe is a good second place runner. If nothing else, stop by and see her new layout!
Until next week!!!
