I had a vlog filmed and ready to post. But once I uploaded it to youtube, the audio wasn't syncing up with the video, and I'm ain't having none of that! So I deleted it and took a picture instead. I didn't have time to film another one and I am totally in my pajamas, so you miss out this week. Blame my vidcam program, I guess.
I went to a used bookstore last weekend and found quite a few there to add to my ever growing pile of books collecting dust on my shelves. I also received two ARCs from a friend, and one book from Random House Reader's Circle. I also received a couple of e-books this week for review. I'll get to those in a minute, but first, physical books!
BOUGHT FROM USED BOOKSTORE:
Saving CeeCee Honeycutt by Beth Hoffman
Saving Fish From Drowning by Amy Tan
Sweet Mandarin by Helen Tse
The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton
In the Woods by Tana French
The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon
The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society by Mary Ann Shaffer
The Bonesetter's Daughter by Amy Tan

That's it for me this week. It was so much fun going used book shopping and getting some lovely gifts in the mail! I love the cover of Imitation so much! Leave me a link to you posts and I will try to stop by!

Oooo I love a bit of Kate Morton. I've always wanted to read Memoirs of a Geisha, I should get on that soon!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy, and I hope to see your vlog NEXT week ;-)
Imitation looks interesting! Love Used Bookstores. Enjoy, them all.

I've been wanting to read Midwinterblood. I will now wait patiently for your awesome review of the book before deciding to borrow or purchase it myself! Enjoy your reading!
ReplyDeleteYay!! I'm glad that the books made it to you safely. I have no faith in the post office lately lol!! Ohhh you got The Girl Who Was Supposed to Die!! That was my WoW a while back. It sounds awesome!! Love the pic! The candlelight is so pretty against the books. You got a lot of awesome books this week!!
ReplyDeleteI don't go to used bookstores too often, but I bet I'd come out with a good haul, too! Looks like you picked up some great titles. Too bad your vlog didn't work for you, though! I'm really interested in reading The Girl Who Was Supposed to Die ... it looks super good!
ReplyDeleteHave a good weekend!
I would have LOVED to see your vlog!
ReplyDeleteYou have a nice collection of adult books! I'm curious what you think about Saving CeeCee Honeycutt.
It's so annoying to go to all the effort of waiting for your vlog to upload only to have it fail, ag!
ReplyDeleteMost of these are new to me but I do know and love Memoirs of a Geisha!
Oh Kara, I hope you get around to The Forgotten Garden! It was BRILLIANT. :)
ReplyDeleteOMG I LOVED The Forgotten Garden! Also Memoirs of a Geisha!! I got Midwinterblood too, and I can't wait to read it. On my blog you mentioned Thorn Abbey...I'm a bit worried about that one too, because the reviews on Goodreads aren't that great. I know it doesn't mean it's going to be bad, but I can't help but wonder... Great haul, enjoy your books:)
ReplyDeleteMemoirs of a Geisha is one of my all-time favorites too. I recently snagged a copy at my used bookstore too. I was so excited to have that on my shelves. And Kate Morton! <3 I still have to read The Forgotten Garden but it's collecting dust on my shelves already, so, hopefully soon. Fantastic haul. :)
ReplyDeleteMy Showcase Sunday!
O.o DAT title! 'The Girl Who Was Supposed to Die'. I'll have to look that one up. It's time I go visiting my used book store, as well. There are always goodies to be found. :) enjoy your new babies!
ReplyDeleteOoh The Ruining ! I can't wait to see what you think of that one, Kara! I loved it! It's an awesome mind fuck! I don't know what Saving Fish From Drowning, but I kind of love it! That April Henry cover reminds me of Slated. Great haul, muffin cups! <3
ReplyDeleteOooh, Asian-sounding books. Fun times. Also, The Shadow of the Wind is AMAZING. Haven't heard of some of those you got, but I hope they're awesome. So sweet of Amy to help you get your horror on!
ReplyDeleteOh crap I forgot to put Imitation in mine, oops. Oh well there is always next week. I should be getting The Girl Who Was...... that's a long title. Soon I can't wait for that one. I hope it's good, I think that is one that could definitely go either way. I can't wait to read The Ruining I bought it recently because of the crazy lady two spots up from me so it better be good!
