Night Creature Series
Publisher: Self Published Title ( Originally Published under Random House Australia)
Release Date: March 2013
In Ixion music and party are our only beliefs. Darkness is our comfort. We have few rules but they are absolute . . .
Retra doesn’t want to go to Ixion, the island of ever-night, ever-youth and never-sleep. Retra is a Seal – sealed minds, sealed community. She doesn’t crave parties and pleasure, experience and freedom.
But her brother Joel left for Ixion two years ago, and Retra is determined to find him. Braving the intense pain of her obedience strip to escape the only home she’s ever known, Retra stows away on the barge that will take her to her brother.
When she can’t find Joel, Retra finds herself drawn deeper into the intoxicating world of Ixion. Come to me, whispers a voice in her head. Who are the Ripers, the mysterious guardians of Ixion? What are the Night Creatures Retra can see in the shadows? And what happens to those who grow too old for Ixion?
Retra will find that Ixion has its pleasures, but its secrets are deadly. Will friendship, and the creation of an eternal bond with a Riper, be enough to save her from the darkness?
Listen well, baby bats. Burn bright, but do not stray from the paths. Remember, when you live in a place of darkness you also live with creatures of the dark.

What are your thoughts about the cover? What did you like about the book trailer?

Aw. I'm not a fan of these new covers at all, unfortunately. The old covers were brilliant and so original and cool and vibrant, and these just look like pretty much any old self-published novel. I'm disappointed. :(
ReplyDeleteI was a little too. But the good thing is they are available here now! I've been wanting to read them for so long!
DeleteI loved loved loved the old covers. These unfortunately do look very self-published. I sure hope people still give these a chance because I've heard wonderful things about this series.
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with Blythe, I liked the old covers better. These are just so similar to so many covers that they don't stand out like the old ones did. I like the book trailer.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. I'm just happy I can get them now. I wish they would do this with all Aussie books that aren't available here. There are so many I want!
DeleteOn one hand, I'm thrilled that these books are now being published in America, but the covers are a far cry from the beauty of the Australian covers. Very disappointing! :/
ReplyDeleteAgreed.
DeleteThanks Kara and Lyn!
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately the Random House/Kubicki wonderful covers weren't financially feasible. We've done the best we could :)
best wishes
Marianne
I know you did! Thank you for making them available here!
DeleteOh no, what a shame about these covers - they don't convey the feeling of this amazing series at all. I worry that readers will dismiss these books because of the covers. The Aussie ones are amazing!
ReplyDeleteMaybe a few will, but I certainly won't. I've wanted to read them for quite some time!
DeleteI don't know Lyn, I'm personally not a fan, I think I like the original covers. I've interviewed Marianne de pierres and personally a fan of The Night Creatures Series, I've dedicated a few post on Marianne as I did an Australia Day Feature with Australian YA Authors :)
ReplyDeleteWe are too! I can't wait to get the chance to read the books though. I have heard so much about them!
