Welcome to Stacking the Shelves! Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Team Tynga's Reviews. This is where we showcase books we have received or bought during the week.
So this week I got a lovely book package from a dear friend, and I bought a couple of e-books with a gift card I won. That's right! I won a $50.00 gift card from Amazon for hosting the Release blog tour and having one of the grand prize winners come from my blog! You'd think I went out and spent it all right away, but no, I am saving it and only buying books that I really want since I'm kind of on a buying ban right now.
From my dear friend Christina at Reader of Fictions, I got the lovely books you see in the photo. It's an awesome book package, and the best part is I only thought I was going to get two of the books, but she threw in a third as a freebie. I will now be keeping an eye my shelves to send her something back I think she will like.
The Death of Bees by Lisa O'Donnell (This book has one of my favorite covers ever.)
Not Exactly a Love Story by Audrey Couloumbis (The freebie)
Here Where the Sunbeams Are Green by Helen Phillips (Yay middle grade. I also love the title.)
E-Books
No review books this week. I bought two books for my Kindle with my gift card. They are:
Golden Boy: Memories of a Hong Kong Childhood by Martin Booth (I'm researching Kowloon Walled City again. Why? Because I can, and someday this book will get written.)
Breathe by Sarah Crossan (This one is iffy amongst my friends. But it was the Kindle Daily Deal so I thought I would try it.)
That's it for me this week. No review books, but fun stuff nonetheless. Leave me a comment and I will come visit your posts! Happy reading!

I had some mixed thoughts on Breathe, but I liked it well enough overall. I hope it works out for you! The Death of Bees sounds brilliant. The reviews I have read so far have been pretty good. Enjoy! :)
ReplyDeleteOhh The Death of Bees sounds good. What a great package!! How awesome that you won a GC. They are always great!! I hope you like Breathe. The world building is a bit lacking, but I still enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteBreathe sounds really good! :) And congratulations on winning! Happy reading :D
ReplyDeleteMel@thedailyprophecy.
LOL, I actually won a copy of Breathe from Epic Reads (Tea Time). Funny since I've already READ the book! :O) Here's hoping you like it!
ReplyDeleteHow were you able to contain your joy!!? 50 bucks! HEAVEN!
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome parcel of books! I have Not Exactly A Love Story, too, it sounds good! And I liked Breathe - it definitely wasn't a stand out dystopian, but I enjoyed it :)
ReplyDeleteLet me know how you like Death of Bees :) I'm interested in that one! I brought Breathe when it was the Kindle Daily deal as well.. it's been added to the massive TBR pile. lol
ReplyDeleteI really wanted to love Breathe, I had been so excited for it. But it didn't really work for me, though I think I was definitely the black sheep with it. I hope you have better luck than I did. That's the only book I have heard of in your haul! I love how you always have books that I can look up and are new to me, yay for you reading outside the box. I need to do it more and that MG one may be for me. I am always so surprised at how much I end up liking MG ones I read. Great haul chickie!
ReplyDeleteI hope I do too, but if I don't, it was only a buck 99.
DeleteThank you! I try to stay away from the mainstream and focus on a lot of books here that aren't loaded up with hype. I am glad you've noticed!
I love MG. Maybe you and I can do a MG read-a-long for something this year.
Yay! I wanted to send you a surprise! I thought that was such a weird, but fun book. But if you don't like it, oh well, it was free. I think you'll enjoy the other two for sure though. The Death of Bees' cover is seriously gorgeous. I almost kept it just for that reason, but then remembered how many books I have and got over myself. I can't keep everything, not even all the four stars.
ReplyDeleteI LOVEEE your surprises!
DeleteOMG that cover is stunning and eye catching and I would have bought it in the store.
I love your bookshelves. Your library is seriously insane.
I should do a post where I take pics of it probably. Will I be too lazy? PROBABLY.
DeleteSure. But you should do it anyway! :D
Delete$50 gift card?? That's so awesome!!!
ReplyDeleteThe Death of Bees was fantastic. My favorite book of this year (so far). Hope you love it!
Me too, Bonnie!
DeleteAwww that Ms Fictions is a nice lady! And well done on being restrained with your gift card - I would have spent it all in like 2 minutes!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy :-D
She is an awesome lady! And I am saving the GC for something I REALLY want. I will know when I see it, I think.
