Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s
topic: Top Ten 2013 Debuts I’m Looking Forward To.
I’m going to say
it, and I am going to watch you all drool: book catalogs.
That’s right, it is time to start thumbing
through the book 2013 pron book catalog. What am I looking forward to this year? I have listed the top ten
debut authors and debut series for 2013.

Antigoddess by
Kendare Blake – Anna Dressed in Blood blew me away. She set the bar high. If this isn’t good, I’ll sic Anna right onto
you, Blake! (just, kidding, I love you).
Let the Sky Fall
by Shannon Messenger – That COVER! That DESCRIPTION! Female “Airbender”
anyone?!
The Lost Sun by
Tessa Gratton – “United States of Asgard”. How the hell could I say no to THAT? A president who can poke his own eyeball out of his head. Vikings
around every corner. Bad-ass female
goddesses. That is a future I can believe in.
Linked by Imogen Howson – The premise shows some promise. And the book has enough backbone to keep from
stating “I am the next Harry Potter/Game of Thrones/Hunger Games/Twilight/*cram
in current book onto a sticker and slap it on the front of the cover*”
Loki’s Wolves by K.L. Armstrong and M.A. Marr – I can only blame myself if this is
bad, but……THIS LOOKS SO AWESOME!
Paper Valentine by Brenna Yovanoff – Yeah, me and 1,000+ bloggers have this on a
“GIVE IT TO ME” list.
Allie Brosh’s “Hyperbole and a Half” book – Because a girl can still dream. (I miss you, Allie)
Just One Day by Gayle Forman – Forman is not new, but this is the first book in her
new series. And I am a sucker for her
stories.
City of a Thousand Dolls by Miriam Forster – The author loves Star Trek novels. And just look at the summary on Goodreads – cats, flirtation
and death. What else do you need in
life??
The Nightmare Affair by Mindee Arnett – She’s a NIGHTMARE! I’m sold.
What
debut 2013 novels are waiting on your own wish list? (Please don’t list good
ones. My wish list is already totaling more than I make in a year).

I am SO looking forward to Antigoddess! Most of the YA Greek retellings/inspired books that are already out didn't impress me much that I've been wary of them...but it's Kendare so I have high hopes!
ReplyDeleteCity of A Thousand Dolls and Nightmare Affair are also on my list because I fell prey to coverlust...BUT the books sound epic so that's okay. xD
Before I forget, I'm also looking forward to The Falconer by Elizabeth May! The rest of the books on my list are sequels so that's about it.
DeleteThose books DO sound so tempting!
DeleteI'm going to have to take a look at that book! Thanks!
I love Brenna Yovanoff and Gayle Forman's other books, but that makes them not debuts ;)
ReplyDeleteNightmare Affairs and City of A Thousand Dolls both look SO GOOD! They were so close to making my list. It was a hard list to narrow down.
Hi! Thanks for stopping by, Reading Angel. I listed at the top that I wanted to list out new authors AND new series. I mentioned on Forman's new book that I know she isn't new, but her series will be.
DeleteIt is hard to narrow down - there are so many good titles this year!
I just read your Tweet! It is all good :)
DeleteI'm especially excited about City of a thousand dolls. The cover is so gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteMel@thedailyprophecy.
The more I read up on "City of a Thousand Dolls", the more excited I get!
DeleteI was super excited to get an ARC of The Nightmare Affair, and only have a few books ahead of it to read! I'm really excited for both Yovanoff and Blake's new novels, but I would add to that Sarah Rees Brennan's Untold and Maureen Johnson's The Madness Underneath.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the recommendations! I'll have to take a look!
DeleteOh! I look forward to reading the review of "The Nightmare Affair"! It sounds like it could be good.
Bahahaha, House picture!
ReplyDeleteDebut series. Ohhhh. I was wondering how all of these not debuts got on here. To my knowledge Paper Valentine isn't a series, though. *whistles* Don't mind me!
JUST ONE DAY! Damn right you're excited!
I miss House. That was a great show.
DeleteI should have separated out new authors and new series. I listed out Paper Valentine for new author. My mistake!
I'm looking forward to "Just One Day". I need to find time to read "Where She Went."
Great list!! I am looking forward to most of those too!! And I love the pic!! House was one of my favorite shows!!
ReplyDeleteI miss House. It really brightened up my week.
DeleteOhhhhhhhh Antigoddess - SO excited for that one, I love Kendare's writing! Great creative twist on the list ;-)
ReplyDeleteAgreed! I hope that Antigoddess brings some justice to the Greek mythology sub-genre.
DeleteGreat picks! I can't wait for Antigoddess!! It looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteSteph! (I feel like a rock star!)
DeleteAntigoddess looks SO good!
Ooooh... I can't wait for Antigoddess! And I'm especially intrigued by City of a Thousand Dolls and The Nightmare Affair! They both sound incredibly original. Great list, Lyn!
