Welcome to Stacking the Shelves. Stacking
the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga at Tynga's Reviews. This is where we
showcase books we have received or bought during the week.
Guess who caught
the end of a book sale this week? Guess
who just received her Amazon textbook trade in gift card? Guess who returned to
Netgalley? (Spoiler: Me.)
Here are my
recent additions to my TBR shelf:
Books

The Burn Journals by Brent Runyon – This book sounds so heartbreaking, yet so inspiring.
Icefall by Matthew
J. Kirby – I already read this one, but it was a library copy, and I just had
to own this book!

Mari Mancusi – I couldn’t pass on that cover and the description.
Iron HeartedViolet by Kelly Barnhill – Recommended to me – it sounds like an awesome story!

Beth Durst – I keep skipping this book, but the premise keeps pulling me back
in.

Wow-you had a great week! I have a few of these books and have eyed most of the others as well. Happy reading :)
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteI am actually reading "And All the Stars" right now, because everyone is talking about this book. So far, I really enjoy the story.
The Name of the Star! I loved that one! :) I love the cover for Vessel ... that's gorgeous! I had tried to read Cloud Atlas last year, but just couldn't get into it. I think the first chapter took me a week to read and it's the shortest one in the book. I hope you like it!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy all your books!
Thanks!
DeleteThe Name of the Star has been a book I saw crop up every now and then. I figured it was a sign that it is time to take a chance on it. Thank you for sharing your thoughts about the book - I hope to have this one read soon!
The Name of the Star is a book I must get my hands on, I've heard nothing but good things about it.
ReplyDeleteI really liked Teeth, odd but addictive!
Enjoy ;-)
Everyone is telling me that "Teeth" is going to be a rough ride. I'm actually looking forward to the book!
DeleteI liked The Name of the Star. OMG I can't wait to read FUSE I have it too!!! SO many great books. Enjoy!!
ReplyDeleteI just bought "Pure" this weekend - I had no idea Fuse was a sequel.
DeleteEveryone is talking about "The Name of the Star". I might have to move this one up.
OOOO I quite liked Icefall, the main character is strong and fierce, but like she takes a while to develop into being awesome, like she starts out unsure of herself. Anyways, it's an excellent read so good taste.
ReplyDeleteAND. FUSE! I hope Netgalley approves me for that because ahhhh I WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS SO BAD!
I wrote a review on Icefall. I LOVED the book!
DeleteI have "Pure" ready to read. I had no idea that Fuse was a sequel. Hopefully I can make it a double header - read the first book and then the ARC.
I've been meaning to read The Name of the Star for awhile, so I can't WAIT to see what you think of it! :) Also, I just LOVED Teeth and And All the Stars - both excellent reads - and I'm about half-way through Cloud Atlas. I saw the movie after I started reading it, and it's good, but I'm enjoying the book better. It requires a lot of concentration, though, so it's slow for me, but I hope you can find the time to read it!(: Also, Vessel sounds amazing, so I'm curious to see what you think of that one. Great haul this week! :D
ReplyDeleteI am reading "And All the Stars" right now - WOW!
DeleteI have to admit, I am a little shocked about the raving for "The Name of the Star". I am starting to think this one needs to be read ASAP.
Ahaha, you definitely returned to Netgalley, Kara! *wink* I can't wait to read Vessel myself, but the price is too high for it in UK, so I'll be waiting until it goes down. Also, The Name of the Star was really good and I hope you enjoy it. So many awesome reads! Have a fab week! :)
ReplyDeleteHello Kara Karina!
DeleteThis is Lyn - her coblogger.
I really hope to enjoy "The Name of the Star". So many people are gushing about it.
Ah!! I freaking LOVED Vessel, so so much, I'm glad you keep coming back to it because it is absolutely wonderful. I also really enjoyed And All the Stars and The Name of the Star. I'm glad to see Icefall was so good you had to own it--I really need to get to that one, I've heard such amazing things!
ReplyDeleteMan, this is like the 5th comment I have seen about "The Name of the Star". I think I am going to promote it to the front of the pack.
DeleteI am reading "And All of the Stars" right now. It is KILLING me! (In a good way).
I got Fuse this week, too! I still need to read Pure, but I've heard AMAZING things, so it's always nice to have the sequel at hand. And I also got Teeth a few weeks ago. I can't wait to read it, but I think I'll save it for a day when I'm in the mood to bawl my eyes out, because that's apparently a guarantee with all of Moskowitz' books. Great haul, Lyn!
ReplyDeleteI just bought "Pure" this week. I need to read it before I pick up "Fuse". This will be my first book from this author, but thank you for telling in advance that I will need to have some tissues on hand!
DeleteYou know, I avoided "The Name of the Star" for awhile, and it turned out to be a completely different book than I was expecting -- in a good way. I'm glad I finally read it.
ReplyDeleteLOved And All the Stars!
I am reading "And All the Stars" right now - I hit the BIG REVELATION and now I am so upset! I had to put the book down! (But this is SO good!)
DeleteAlright, it looks like I will be reading The Name of the Star soon! Everyone seemed to love the book!
Holy cow awesome haul! I freaking loved Teeth, and it's so weird and I can't wait to see what more people think of it so I will definitely be watching for that review. I can't wait to read Fuse, I love that series so much. Great haul, Lyn!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jenni! I had no idea Fuse was a sequel, but I did get the first book over the weekend. Yah!
DeleteI loved The Name of the Star! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteIt seems to be a popular book for this post - now I am curious about the raving over the book. I will have to read it soon!
DeleteOh wow. That's quite a list! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteWow, those ARCs look insanely good! Each cover is more gorgeous than the other! Enjoy your new babies!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteI haven't read Pure yet but I think I may give it a shot even though I've heard a lot of mixed reviews on it. Sounds incredibly original. :) And The Name of the Star has intrigued me too but... I don't know. I love Jack the Ripper stories but I'm not sure how well it will translate in YA. And Cloud Atlas! That's another book that I would love to finally tackle in 2013. Great haul Lyn!
ReplyDeleteEveryone here has proclaimed a strong love for "The Name of the Star".
DeleteI think it was a great haul - I'm really excited to pick up my reading again!
I REALLY liked The Name of the Star - I hope you do, too! And A Song for Bijou looks so cute :)
ReplyDeleteEveryone is so rabid for "The Name of the Star", TBH. I saw it had mixed reviews and never gave it any thought, but people just seem to love it here!
Deleteiron heared violet and ice fall . jelly
ReplyDeletei loved vessel
gr8 haul this week
I reviewed "Icefall" but it was from the library. I loved the book so much, I had to own it.
DeleteI'm really setting high expectations for "Vessel". It sounds really interesting.
I still haven't read NAME OF THE STAR, VESSEL, ICEFALL, or IRON-HEARTED VIOLET yet, and I really want to! Looking forward to your AND ALL THE STARS reaction as well. That is, when I've actually had a chance to write my review. *sigh*
ReplyDeleteWendy @ The Midnight Garden
WENDY!
DeleteOMG, And All of the Stars! We can geek out over the book! I had no idea you were an acknowledgement until about 80% of the way into the book. I'm really looking forward to your review - no pressure! (please write it, soon!)
I really hope that you love Iron-Hearted Violet, because the cover is awesome and I want to love it.
ReplyDeleteI know, right!? It looks like it has the potential to be bad-ass!
DeleteI loved Between Two Thorns! Really hope you enjoy it :-) Gamer Girl sounds interesting, intrigued to know more about that one. You have some great books there - Teeth looks good, and Cloud Atlas in on my To Read list as well. Happy reading! :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Victoria! It helps to know what ARCs I should read first!
