Stacking the Shelves #25

Welcome to Stacking the Shelves. Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga at Tynga's Reviews. This is where we showcase books we have received or bought during the week.

It was another pretty big week for me bookwise this week. I got some awesome books in the mail, and I got approved for a couple of E-ARCs that I have been pining for like crazy! I'm not feeling particularly chatty this week, but I do want to thank all of my readers for their continuing support. I love that I get to share my love of books with all of you, and I know Lyn feels the same way.

Oh, and apparently I will be going to BEA this year. So if you have plans to go, maybe I will see you there?

On to the books!

I received this for an upcoming blog tour with TLC Book Tours and I can't wait to read it. I hat the opportunity to request this earlier in 2012 and I decided not to, but it came my way again with the opportunity for a blog tour and I took that as a sign. It sounds right up my alley.

The One I Left Behind by Jennifer McMahon

Christina from A Reader of Fictions sent this to me because she thought I might like it and it wasn't a genre she particularly enjoyed. I have had this one on my TBR for a while so I told her to send it my way and that I would read it as soon as I could. Might be a while, but it sounds great!

The Devil's Metal by Karina Halle

Karina sent me my editor's copies (yes there are 3 of them) before they went out of stock. This book got a publishing deal with Diversion Books, and they are strictly an e-book company, so if you want a paperback copy, get them now. That's why she sent me three.

In the Shadow of Blackbirds by Cat Winters (NetGalley)

Thank you to Amulet Books for this one.

Starglass by Phoebe North (Edelweiss)

How happy was I to be approved for this one?? Thanks, Simon and Schuster! I hope I love it.

Fuse (Pure #2) by Julianna Baggott

After being declined for this on Edelweiss (sob), it appeared on NetGalley, so I re-requested and was approved. Thank you, Grand Central. I'll hit you up over there from now on, I guess. I can't wait to read this. I LOVED Pure.

And that's it for me this week! I was really happy with my haul this week. My requesting is getting out of control again though, so I need to cut it out! I can't keep up with the reading and I haven't played Warcraft in two weeks! SOB!! Leave me a comment and I will try and come visit your posts. Happy reading!

  3. I'm very envious of you going to BEA, it's one of those things I want to do if I ever have a lot of spare cash (or free flights to the US) - so basically never :P. I hope you have a brilliant time though!
Also I love the cover for Fuse, haven't read Pure yet but will add it to my list.

    1. You never know, Luna. I never thought I would go either. But this is a good year because many of my favorite people are going. And I'll bring back a lot of great books and maybe a giveaway once I've read them? :)

  4. *_* We're quite excited about In the Shadow of Blackbirds. And when you mentioned Fuse was on NetGalley, I started shrieking and immediately requested for it. I have no idea why it's classified under Adult though.

    1. LOL I love that I made you shriek! Yay!

Pure and Fuse are actually considered crossover titles. They are published by Grand Central, which is an adult publisher, because some of the themes present in the novels are more mature than those presented in most YA books.

  16. Oooh, I'm really excited to hear how Starglass is, I didn't request it because I'm nervous, but I really hope to hear good things. I'm curious about In the Shadows of Blackbirds as well, and I adore the cover of Fuse even though I probably won't start that series until it wraps up next year.

    Happy reading, Kara!

  19. In the Shadow of Blackbirds sounds fascinating, and such a creepy cover too! I so want to read Starglass, and am quite envious that you have a copy. ;) Phoebe North is awesome. Great haul, Kara!

  20. Ooh, I can't wait to see what you think of In the Shadow of Blackbirds, Kara! I just found out about that book today and it definitely sounds interesting, but I'm going to wait for some reviews before I request, because it seems like, more often than not, books pitched as creepy are laughable at best. And I got Fuse this week, too. I just need to read Pure first. ;) And I'm really, really looking forward to seeing what you think of Starglass. I didn't request it because sci-fi isn't always for me, and the synopsis sounded like a lot could go wrong, but if it's good I might just request it. (Though I think I might be too late and EW has "already met their quota". Pffft.) Great haul, Kara!

    1. I hear you. I wait on a lot of books before I request them too. I love creepy books. Did you try Long Lankin? Slowly paced but super creepy. At least I thought so.

I actually sort of think Fuse was pretty creepy too. That book gave me some serious shivers.

I am a huge fan of Sci-Fi, so bring it on, I say.

I thought it was only Penguin who had the stupid 'met quota' message.

  21. Right? I got declined for Fuse on Edelweiss too, so stupid. Great haul! So excited about The Devil's Metal being picked up, what an awesome keepsake she sent! Great haul!
