Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week's topic is books I read in 2012. So. My favorite ten books of 2012, huh? This is going to be a tough topic because there were so many good ones! But this will also help me plan the giveaway hop I am participating in on December 30th hosted by Kat and Steph at Cuddlebuggery. GO SIGN UP because it's not too late!
So I'm going to make this one short and list my top ten favorite books of 2012 without covers. Why short? Well, I have an end-of-year survey I am planning to do, plus you will get to see these books again when you can choose to win one during the above giveaway hop. I love giving things away and it's easy for me to give away books I love! So here's the list:
1. The Language of Flowers by Vanessa Diffenbaugh
2. Ashen Winter by Mike Mullin
3. Behind the Beautiful Forevers by Katherine Boo
4. Shadows on the Moon by Zoe Marriott
5. Stormdancer by Jay Kristoff
6. The Diviners by Libba Bray
7. A Face Like Glass by Frances Hardinge
8. Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo
9. The Dark Unwinding by Sharon Cameron
10. Insignia by S.J. Kincaid
Did any of these books make your favorites of 2012 list? Surprisingly this was a pretty easy list to come up with. Much easier than last year anyway. Perhaps it is because I am pickier and I also read fewer books than I did last year. Links go to Goodreads. Make sure you come back on December 30th for the giveaway hop! I'm also going to be giving away a book from a list of my ten most anticipated books releasing in 2013.

I only read one of these books and it wasn't a favourite. :( But I have heard of a few of the other titles! I'll be sure to check them out after I trudge my way through my pile of unread books at home. :)
ReplyDeleteOh Stormdancer & Shadow and Bone made my top 10 as well. They are actually in my top 5. Great picks!
ReplyDeleteShadow and Bone!!! <3
ReplyDeleteI still need to read Stormdancer! And I want to get my hands on The Diviners. I loved The Language of Flowers too.
ReplyDeleteThe Language of Flowers BLEW me away. And caught me totally by surprise, I might add. I did not see my love for the book coming.
DeleteI've only read Stormdancer and it's defo not on my top 10 list but I did enjoy Insignia and I can't wait to read The Diviners!
ReplyDeleteDamn, we don't match up! I only read Stormdancer from this list, and I didn't like it that much.
ReplyDeleteI desperately need to read The Language of Flowers, A Face Like Glass and Behind the Beautiful Forevers - I've heard such good things about them! Wonderful list, Kara! I loved The Diviners, Stormdancer, and Shadow and Bone as well this past year - ESPECIALLY The Diviners! I already want to re-read that one! ;)
ReplyDeleteYes! I think that book has a lot of reread potential. I feel like i missed so much because it was so interesting but I feel like I rushed through it.
DeleteShadow & Bone and Stormdancer also made it to my faves list! Great picks.
ReplyDeleteFriend, I really liked or loved all of the books on this list that I've read. Book twin! (Only not really, but at least many of our very favorites match up!)
ReplyDeleteI know! Because how often does THAT happen?
DeleteAshen Winter FTW! That's the only one that I have read on this list, but I freaking loved it so this list is awesome. That is all.
ReplyDeleteAhaha, thanks, Jenni! I loved Ashen Winter, for many reasons. One has to do with hip swiveling. ;)
DeleteI loved Shadows on the Moon and The Diviners!! I never got to Ashen Winter. I totally suck. I wanted to read it so bad, but then I got behind. It's so long that I never ended up fitting it in. :(
ReplyDeleteWell maybe you can fit it in this year! You need to fit it in this year!
DeleteThe Diviners and Shadow & Bone make it into my top ten too! I quite enjoyed Insignia earlier this year too now that I think about it. Great list! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Sam! Glad you liked them all.
DeleteStormdancer and Shadow and Bone were both super awesome! And I've decided that I need to give Libba Bray another chance and pick up The Diviners. (After I attempt to finish the Gemma Doyle trilogy, though).
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoy it. I've only read The Diviners, but I totally have intentions of reading her other books as soon as I have time.
DeleteI totally forgot about The Diviners and Shadow & Bone, gah. Both were amazing. Loved Ashen Winter too, I can't wait for the next installment. Great list!!
ReplyDeleteMy 2012 favorites!
Shadow & Bone and The Diviners will also make it up on my list of favourite books of 2012. They were both gorgeously crafted novels! I recently found out about A Face Like Glass and The Dark Unwinding, and I can hardly wait to read both, too. Brilliant list, Kara. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Leanne. I think you will like both of those books, honestly. I can't wait to see what you think of them.
Deletei loved shadow nd bone
ReplyDeleteOh man, I really need to read 1 - 4 and 9 & 10! I really liked S&B and Diviners, too. :) Great list! We're publishing ours next week. Which is so behind everyone else, apparently I didn't get the memo...
ReplyDeleteWendy @ The Midnight Garden
Haha, no worries! I am still publishing ANOTHER list that's more in detail the first week of January. This was just a Top Ten Tuesday post. I have to wait until 2013 begins. What if I finish the best book on December 31st? Unlikely, but you never know!
