My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Uhhhhhh..please don't make me do this review. I'm afraid. Really afraid. What's that? You promise you won't beat me up? Okay. I'll tell you what I thought then. Carefully.
And that's the thing. I don't really know what to say. I loved it! But I HATED it at the same time. Hence the three stars. It's been a long time since a book I'm reading has given me such an outwardly visceral reaction. It was hard to read at times. My imagination was going into gory overtime.
I've decided I don't like reading about zombies. I can't handle it. That doesn't mean I won't finish the series..just not now. I need a break. I had nightmares. Certain things mess with certain people's minds. Well I figured out my Achilles heel. Zombies. Isn't that ridiculous?
I figure that if I had to live like the characters in this book did, surrounded by a zombie fence just waiting for the day they busted it down, I'd probably kill myself. I'm not just saying that. I mean it. Could your life get possibly any more messed up than that? I mean it was completely void of hope. Empty. Scary. Horrifying.
Now let's talk book details. Ridiculously well written. Beautiful and terrifying at the same time. Anger inducing. The settings were fantastic. I think I pictured everything in my mind exactly the way the author intended. The platforms and the zombie fences and their moaning. OMG, please don't make me relive it again.
I hated the ending. Not all of it, but since I can't tell you which parts without spoiling it, I guess you are just going to have to read it and form your own opinions. There were a few unanswered questions. But I guess we were supposed to make our own assumptions. Mine weren't positive. But I mean the entire book was void of hope. So should I really expect the ending to be that much different?
I'm going to conclude it here. Everything else I say after this will be repetitive anyway. Just read it. If you haven't already. I definitely want to hear what you think.
